Housing & Temporary Financial Assistance

New in 2015- now proudly offering housing assistance to veteran families of Western New York in Erie and Niagara Counties, in addition to Monroe, Orleans, Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne Counties. See contact info for local offices at left.

VOC is proud to announce renewed federal funding of our Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) Program through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

SSVF serves more than 800 families across Western New York each year in providing the resources that secure housing and prevent homelessness. A case manager will help you create an Individual Development Plan that may include any of the following services:

  • Temporary Financial Assistance to provide for rent, utilities, or related housing costs
  • Assistance with developing a plan to sustain permanent housing stability
  • Housing search and placement assistance
  • Free legal assistance
  • Veteran-to Veteran mentoring
  • Financial Counseling and Coaching Services

To provide the most effective and successful outcomes, our SSVF teams have partnered with leading agencies in each region. In Rochester, that includes The Housing Council at Pathstone, LAWNY (Legal Assistance of Western New York), and IVMF (Institute for Veterans and Military Families) of Syracuse University.

In Buffalo, SSVF proudly works with Belmont Housing, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Compeer, Goodwill of WNY, Neighborhood Legal Services, and NYS Division of Veterans' Affairs.
