Laura Stradley
Executive Director

Laura Stradley is an Army veteran who spent eight years on active duty.  Just before leaving the service, Laura earned her Master of Science in Business Administration from Baker College. Laura has worked with veterans for more than a decade, and in 2015, she was inducted into the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. Laura has co-authored two books – The Pocket Idiot’s Guide to the ASVAB and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the ASVAB. She has been a Girl Scout Troop Leader for five years and lives in Penfield with her twins, Thomas and Sarah.


Alec Andrest
Director of Residential Services

Alec Andrest joined Veterans Outreach Center as the Residential Manager in March of 2016. Alec served 8 years in The United States Marine Corps 2006-2014. His passion for veteran advocacy began as a financial services representative and grew when he was elected to the Veterans Business Council in July of 2015. Alec and his wife, Julianna, have 3 boys, reside in Irondequoit, and belong to Grace Church.


Joan Brandenburg, CFRE
Director of Advancement

Joan is a seasoned Development professional with over 15 years of experience in fundraising leadership. After a long and successful career in broadcast journalism, Joan made the transition to the non-profit community as a means to give back. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and received her CFRE certification in November, 2019.



Brandon Kasperkoski
Director of Programs

Brandon is a United States Army veteran. He began his military career on active duty in 2006 as an infantryman and continues it as a reserve soldier today. He has over 10 years of leadership experience and organizational operations. Providing excellent service to our veteran community is Brandon’s upper-most mission. He has a “lead from the front” ideology and focuses on growth and development of the programs VOC offers. Brandon completed his undergraduate degree following his active military service and is continuing his pursuit of higher learning. Brandon was born and raised in the Rochester area, and he and his daughter “MJ” live there now. Brandon loves the local area and strives to help keep it a place that fully supports our nation’s veterans and their families.



Allison Tursi
Director of Human Resources 

Allison brings over 20 years of human resources experience to her role at VOC. During her career, Allison has gained significant experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, leadership and workforce learning and development, as well as providing guidance and consulting support to senior management.  Her professional experience includes work in both corporations and non-profit organizations, primarily in the staffing, healthcare, security, and education industries.

Allison earned her BS in Communications from SUNY College at Brockport and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the National Human Resources Association (NHRA).

Marianne Sernoffsky Female Veterans and Family Outreach Program Manager

Marianne is the proud spouse of a 26-year Army Veteran and has been working with Veterans for over 18 years. In the Army Creed it states “I will always place the mission first, I will never accept defeat, I will never quit” Marianne follows those ethos above and beyond. Veterans are near and dear to Marianne’s heart.



Julia Liotta
Flag Store Manager

Julia brings more than 20 years of retail management experience to Stars and Stripes Flag Store, both at big-box and specialty/boutique businesses. Before coming to VOC, Julia served as a department manager, trainer, assistant manager, and store manager at her previous employer. She loves working with people from all walks of life and is passionate about giving back to the community. Julia resides in Rochester with her husband, Gary, and their son.



Nena Siverd Employment & Training Services Manager

Nena has 20+ years’ experience in Employment & Training programs with non-profit agencies in Rochester and of those 17 years have been working at VOC serving a diverse socio-economic veteran population. She loves animals (especially her two dogs and four cats), spending time with family and friends, watching Boston teams (especially Red Sox and Patriots), and horseback riding!

Kevin Gross
Development Associate

Kevin hails from Dryden, NY. He has a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from SUNY Oswego and spent five years as a Stage Manager. Kevin then pursued a career with Boy Scouts of America, spending ten years as a professional, raising money, supervising volunteer training, activities, and summer camp operations. Kevin, his wife, Kate, and son, Geoffrey, live in Hamlin.



Kim Osur
Special Events & Third Party Fundraising Coordinator

Kim is a special events expert, having served as the Marketing Director for the Wegmans LPGA for nine years. Prior to joining Veterans Outreach Center, Kim held the title of Community Engagement and Special Events Manager at the Rochester Museum & Science Center. She brings energy and enthusiasm to VOC as she takes the lead for the signature events: Flag Day, VOC Golf Tournament, Pound the Ground, and Stars and Stripes Gala Celebration. Kim has a passion for the non-profit sector and the Rochester community as a whole and thrives on making a positive impact in her everyday life. While she grew up in the Rochester suburbs, she now lives in Canandaigua with her husband and two dogs. 



Chris Stocking
Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

Chris has his bachelor’s degree in journalism from SUNY College at Brockport. After publishing several novels, he launched his marketing career at a nonprofit serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans, and seniors. After a short stint at a for-profit company, he decided to return to the nonprofit world to put his skills toward helping the people who need it most. Chris lives in Rochester with his son, Harvey, and daughter, Hazel.
