Counseling and Arts Therapies
Counseling and Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) are also available within the VOC on a limited basis. Counseling and CAT services offer assistance and guidance in resolving personal, social, familial, behavioral, or psychological challenges and difficulties. Creative arts therapist forge a therapeutic relationship with the Veteran while using the creative process as a dynamic force of change.
Veteran supported groups are offered to decrease isolation, normalize the challenges of re-adjustment to civilian life and to provide a social outlet for camaraderie. There are three art studio groups and one Men’s group. There is also a small gallery space within the Wellness program that provides an opportunity for Veteran artists to show their work.
Veterans' Treatment Court
Veterans’ Treatment Court (VTC) is another feature of the Wellness Program. The VTC program is available to Veterans with non-violent criminal charges who have either a substance abuse or mental health diagnosis. The goal of VTC is to treat the underlying issues that are at the root of the criminal behavior. With intensive Case Management, the Veteran is given all the tools he/she needs to return to being a productive member of society. This group of Veterans is further supported by the opportunity to attend the Men’s Group on a voluntary basis while they are in treatment and after their discharge.
