Taking care of your health and well-being is an important part of life after service. That’s why Veterans Outreach Center, Inc. provides a range of veteran health and wellness services at our facility in Rochester, NY,  to support every veteran’s physical, emotional, and mental health. From peer support and fitness programs to counseling and wellness activities, we’re here to help you stay connected and supported.

Behavioral Health Services

Our Behavioral Health Services offer therapeutic groups, outreach programs, and suicide prevention efforts that include crisis intervention, intensive case management, and ongoing support through our Buddy Check System. These services are designed to provide veterans with immediate help and long-term connections to the resources they need for emotional wellness and recovery.

Suicide Prevention & Awareness

Immediate support for veterans facing behavioral health, substance use, or urgent personal crises across all VOC locations.

Regular outreach to high-risk veterans and their families through phone calls, emails, and direct check-ins to maintain connection and provide support.

Short-term, focused support to connect veterans with appropriate VOC programs or trusted community resources.

Peer Support and Recreational Groups

Peer-led support for veterans managing substance use challenges.

Wednesdays | 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Creative expression to support healing and peer connections, held in our Morale Center.

Fridays | 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

A group focused on recovery, life skills, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Thursdays | 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

A casual space for veterans to share a meal, connect, and enjoy camaraderie.

First & third Tuesday of each month

Open discussions on community topics with resource referrals for Liberty Landing residents and veterans.

Wednesdays | 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

All skill levels welcome for a friendly game of chess and strategic thinking.

Wednesdays | 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Workshops on budgeting, credit-building, and financial planning.

Steve Preston Peer Connection Center

The Steve Preston Peer Connection Center, generously supported by the New York Health Foundation, offers veterans a welcoming space for after-hours support, open from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Veterans can access the on-site fitness center, morale center, and receive guidance for connecting with mental health services, creating a supportive environment for wellness and peer connection beyond regular hours.

Fitness Center

Our climate-controlled fitness center offers a safe, welcoming space for veterans and their families to decompress, exercise, and connect with others. Designed for all fitness levels, the center provides individualized support and features lockers for personal belongings. Access is free to any veteran—just schedule a brief appointment with a VOC Case Manager to verify veteran status and get started.

Morale Center

The Morale Center is a welcoming space where veterans can focus on personal care and well-being. Services include access to the veteran fitness center, laundry facilities, barber/salon services, massage therapy, and more, all designed to support overall wellness and boost morale in a comfortable, veteran-centered environment.
